Attention parents for 5th grade Language Arts:
We will  begin reading our first novel, “Where the Red Fern Grow.” We will be having an interactive notebook that students must be completing each day- handouts will be provided by me. We will have a quiz over Chapter 1-4 on Tuesday, September 18th. Students will have everything necessary to study for this quiz in their Language Arts binder under the “Novel” tab. We will also be working on two projects while we read this novel. I will be posting project information on to this page as I begin to introduce it to the students.

I have sent home a reading log to help students keep themselves accountable as we reach our goal for the 1st nine weeks. This reading log will also be counted as a grade as they turn them in each Friday. Parent signature is needed in order for the grade to be given. Reading goal time for each week is 140 minutes- in order to reach that goal a total time of 35 minutes must be done from Monday-Thursday. Students will bring back the reading log page every Friday and turn that in to me.

Students will have a Worldy Wise Vocabulary test on Friday, September 21st. Students will be making flash cards in class on Monday, September 17th, to help study for this exam.

AR reminders:
5 Nonfiction books
3 Chapter books

After school library has begun! Students can stay and read/AR test at the library until 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Attention parents for 6th grade World History:
We will be covering the Beginning of Civilization Sections 1 and 2 this week, September 17-September 21. Students will be working on a cartoon project that will be presented in class. Students are to create a 6-8 panel cartoon showing life during the early agricultural revolution. Students will be given a day this week, Wednesday, to solely work on the project in class to be ready to start presenting them on Thursday.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me!
Thank you!
